Is your website in order?
Enter your site's address. Vigie reads up to 40 pages, compares French and English (Bill 96) and checks what Law 25 expects to see on a website: a privacy policy, a named officer, notices under forms, cookies. Free, two minutes, no sign-up.
What Vigie checks.
Bill 96 requires a site aimed at Quebecers to exist in French, at least as complete as the English. Vigie looks at the gaps that matter.
Bill 96 · the pages
Every English page needs its French version, found via hreflang, /fr/ or ?lang. A much shorter French version is flagged too, as are PDFs offered only in English and an English home page by default.
Bill 96 · the words
English buttons, menus, form fields and messages on a French page; a page declared French but mostly English; missing lang and hreflang attributes.
Law 25 · privacy
HTTPS; a privacy policy present, reachable and in French; a privacy officer named with contact details; a notice under forms asking for an email or a phone; cookies and analytics disclosed.
Vigie is an automated, heuristic tool: it flags likely gaps; it is neither legal advice nor an attestation of compliance. The applicable rules are those of the Charter of the French Language (CQLR, c. C-11) and the Office québécois de la langue française. Pages behind a login, apps without server rendering and sites that block robots are read only partially.
